For one of my Vis. Com assignments last year, we were asked to do two alphabet pages with a Jamaican/Caribbean influence.

This is the 'D' page and I chose our national bird for it. It's commonly known as a Doctor Bird in Jamaica, but I recently found out that the fancy-schmancy name for it is the Red Billed Streamer Tail hummingbird. Quite a mouthful, eh?

It's a rush job, as many projects due in the very late part of the semester tend to be, and I'm still not used to using watercolours as yet.^^;

Materials: 9x12 watercolour paper, water colour paints, ink, coloured pencil

That's our local 'nickname' for it. :) I've only discovered the official name recently, when I was looking for reference photos.
